ROOT the Film premieres in Denver, CO at McNichols Building, Su Teatro and Denver Art Museum, National Poetry Month 2018
ROOT the Film premiered on March 31st in Denver, Colorado at the McNichols Civic Center Building. The event was sponsored by Denver Arts and Venues. Two hundred people attended the ticketed event, valued at $25 / ticket. Danza Grupo Huitzilopochtli opened the evening with a traditional dance ritual, followed by presentations and performances by master percussionist Zay Alejandro Rios, cultural creative Asia Dorsey, and artist and healer Eutimia Cruz Montoya, who was recently awarded Best of Denver Best Holistic Healer Services by Westword Magazine. Sheree "lovemestiza" Brown captivated the audience with an inspiring, emotional and uplifting debut reading from her first book of poetry lovemestiza. The audience then settled into the world premiere screening of ROOT, with integrated music performances by Molina Speaks. Denver Westword recognized the ROOT World Premiere as one of the Top Ten Film Events for the month of March.
ROOT debuts on the film festival circuit at Su Teatro's Cultural and Performing Arts Center April 7th for the 20th anniversary XicanIndie Film Festival. XicanIndie is an annual four day festival that showcases the best in Chicano independent film as well as featured Latino World Cinema.
ROOT then takes the stage on April 28th at Denver Art Museum's Final Fridays "Untitled" Series, for a National Poetry Month Celebration of the Living Word, curated by World Poetry Slam Champion Suzi Q. Smith.
